We sent Karen, who works in the CBD, for a S$86 30min Stress Relief massage @ Asian Spa (Fullerton Hotel) & this is what she got to say about her experience
We believe that many stressed executives working in the CBD could do with some ‘de-stressing’ in the middle of a busy week or a stressful day.
So that it will not always be a “STRUNG & CRASH” weekly cycle of
Weekdays - Super stressed & Highly Strung
Weekends – Recover from stress by ‘Crashing’
So TakeMeToCBD.com went around looking for a good spa that is centrally located in the CBD. We found The Asian Spa @ The Fullerton Hotel, an award winning spa established in 2000. We are now in the process of discussing with the spa to offer Fans of TakeMeToCBD.com a huge discount for a good 30 min ‘Stress Relief Back Massage’ during weekday lunch time ( watch this space, we will probably be able to let you know next week about this )
But we were not sure whether people who work in the CBD wld actually be keen for lunch-time massage at a good spa. Wld it be difficult to manage time-wise ? So before we finally launch this ‘TakeMeToCBD.com-The Asian Spa’ Special lunch-time 30 mins ‘Stress Relief Back Massage’ deal exclusively for Fans of TakeMeToCBD.com, we thought we wanted a get a volunteer to try this out during their lunch time and to give us feedback on it.
We managed to get a fan, Karen Law, to try it at lunch this afternoon, after which she sent us her feedback via email. This is what she has to say -
TakeMeToCBD.com : Before this, did you think you wld enjoy& be destressed by a 30 min massage in a nice spa in the CBD ?
Karen Law: Yes certainly! I have been looking around for a good place for a lunchtime massage for a long time. Didn’t like the ambience of those few that I know in this area so have not been to any to try.
TakeMeToCBD.com : Did you enjoy the 30 min “Lunch Time De-stress Massage” at The Asian Spa @ Fullerton Hotel that we arranged for you & did you feel rejuvenated after that ?
Karen Law : Yes, I did. Initial part was kind of painful as the masseuse tried to work out all the kinks in my shoulders. When she got to the head massage, it was so relaxing that I fell asleep and she had to gently tap on my arm to wake me up!
TakeMeToCBD.com : Who would you recommend this to?
Karen Law :I will recommend this to all stressed-up Raffles Place workers and especially to tired mummies with young kids like me who are plagued with shoulder & back aches!
TakeMeToCBD.com : What do you do & where in CBD is your office ?
Karen Law : I’m in the banking industry and my office is at Chulia Street.
TakeMeToCBD.com : How did you get to the Asian Spa @ the Fullerton hotel & how long did it take you? Did you manage to squeeze all the getting to & from office as well as the “TakeMeToCBD.com’s Lunch Time De-stress Massage” @ Asian Spa ( Fullerton hotel ) within your lunch time?
Karen Law : I walked there from my office. Took me about 10mins. I lunched in in my office and left at 1240pm for my 10-min walk to Fullerton. Reached there at 1250pm (as advised) for my 1pm appointment. The massage ended at 130pm and I relaxed in the lounge for 10 mins and sipped tea. Left Fullerton at 145pm and got back to my office at 155pm.
TakeMeToCBD.com : Anything else to add?
Karen Law : If not for explicit instructions in your email to me to remind me to turn left at the Fullertonhotel lobby, I would not have been able to find the lifts that bring me to level M1 where the spa is located.
Service from the staff is good and all are friendly. I like that unlike some other places, I was not made to wait around aimlessly before my massage session since my lunchtime is limited. The masseuse who attended to me is Thai with 10+ years’ experience. She is STRONG but was able to temper the pressure to my tolerance level. Her command of English is patchy but I can live with that since her masseuse skills are more important.
An amusing moment was when the spa staff told me to inform the masseuse how much “pleasure” I want. My mind blanked in panic as I wondered what kind of place I have stepped into? I calmed down when I remembered I am in the Fullerton Hotel which can’t possibly be party to THAT kind of dubious business. I made the spa staff repeat herself & I realised that she meant I can inform the masseuse how much PRESSURE I like for my massage….. *sigh of relief* I also like that there is no hard sell tactic by the counter staff but I am not sure whether it’s because they know I’m there to review for TakeMeToCBD? :p
